Training & Consultancy
I have provided both central and local governments with advice and support initiatives following numerous disasters including the Indian Ocean tsunami (2004), the London 7/7 attacks (2005), the Manchester Arena attack (2017) and the Grenfell Tower fire (2017).Ā
I am a member of several international expert groups focussed on psychosocial
support following collective trauma events, including serving as the chair of CTPN
HAPSS Expert Working Group (Counter Terrorism Preparadness Network -
Humanitarian Assistance and Psychosocial Support Expert Working Group).
As the co-director of the Centre for Collective Trauma, I lead a collaborative
network of professionals specialising in psychosocial dimensions of collective
grief, loss and trauma. Under my clinical leadership, this network has
implemented various support group and individual therapy programs.
As part of theĀ Centre for Collective Trauma, I offer:
- Provision of lay advice to central and local government on a range of issues
related to people affected by disasters, such as development of permanent memorials, organisation of anniversaries and other commemorative events. - Design and delivery of facilitated peer support group programmes for people affected by terrorism and other disasters.
- Delivery of conference presentations, including keynote addresses to national and international mental health and psychosocial professionals on the subject of terrorism, disaster, cross-border challenges and traumatic grief.
